Hey Guys,
Ive been trying to come up with an easy recipe to do quick non-photo renders to replace the normal 2d export from SU.
What do you think?
Cheers.

Re: light and material study
Hey guys, Heres my newest renders. When updating my samples scene, I could not replicate the back painted glass material... :shock: I tried pretty much every setting combo I could think of without success until I reversed the back face where the glass coating material is painted to. :? All the woods...

Re: Arroway Textures - How to Use
Thanks Fletch,
Very good info!
I think I was overcomplicating it.

Re: light and material study
Ive done some testing and wow... so... you're happy? :totgm: I was very surprised... the back material has way more effect on the overall look than I expected. And yes I am satisfied. This is more than good enough. I have that kind of personality... :oops: let say névrosé/perfectionniste-obsessif q...

Re: light and material study
Here a quick render at easy 9.
IOR --> 1,2
shininess --> 5000
I think it is a good compromise between reflection, diffuse color and optical effects.
What do you guys think?

Re: light and material study
Ive done some testing and wow... If I remember well I started with the flat plastic template and then changed ior and shininess values. All rendered with easy prelim This is very interesting how the light slowly exits more through the edges. I dont know yet which settings would be best (3 others fol...

Re: light and material study
This is what the Ceramic Template looks like, so that you can compare. Look at the Shininess Values and the IOR Values for each version... these numbers are very important! When using this ceramic behind the glass, one must MATCH the IOR of the glass material used... otherwise unexpected results ca...

Re: light and material study
NCS :lol: The only color palettes I know are kind of big. I think RAL is the smallest. Personally, I think I would prefer to know how to do it than having a library... Near off topic opinion: It is somewhat easier at the beginning to have templates and libraries, but i think it can soon become :wall...

Re: light and material study
Hey Fletch,
My diffuse color is ok, it should not be the problem.
To me, it looks like a reflection problem. I dont know which template to apply to get crisper reflections.
What settings would use for high gloss piano finish or solid acrylic panels, like http://www.parapan.co.uk/ ?
Cheers.
