indeed, DDR3 is expensive. and if you intend to overclock, the cheap ddr3 is not suggested. it will limit overclocking to about 3.6 when you can easily get 4 with right RAM and cooling. yes, maybe a render or 2 will buy you a new rig. ;) :D perfect timing - 2, 3, 4 years from now when I get up to.....

thanks again, Fletch...spent the day researching, seeing if anything was available in town...I think it comes down to either a Q9650 or a new computer - swapping out the motherboard/CPU/memory would put it pretty close at that point... I put in a better power supply when upgrading the graphics card,...

So many interesting things to review on the forum, haven't been very focused in studying and sidetracked by looking at so many beautiful renderings - this is great I'll try that rendering again w/ the tex...

Hi and welcome, I like the first image, you write "..the below was overnight, 2.5 passes.." only ? At least you should have 50 or even 100 passes. For me it's missing some material reflections, you can increase the shininess until 3000 or 6000... Good start... ;) thanks for your comments,...
