hmm 70 % gray? I've been working on my own kitchen and my wife says "but the cabinets must be whiter" and indeed they look very dull, compared to photographs of white cabinets. I wonder what I am doing wrong, as I have them almost up to pure white, which I know is wrong.

It looks right to me. it seems on the second one you've given it too strong a color so it looks like colored water. I think the other thing, the bottom of the pool is too perfect white. Either way a very small amount of blue would give the right effect. an interesting design, and the ivy looks great.

I often just crop out foreground after I make the image, if I don't like it. It just seems you are looking at a lot of grass and pavement when the focus is supposedly the house. This kind of of roof can and has been done without gutters, The "gutter" is a low swale inside of the fascia. It...

Although, to add something constructive: Perhaps less foreground would work? and this design might be interesting to see in another angle.
