Re: Still life with cups and spoons

This is great work..again...comments become a bit boring as every piece is absolutely fabulous! Just 1 little question I can't get out of my mind...How do you create these pieces in sketchup: The cups, the glasses, bottles, spoons, .... As sketchup is quite difficult handling these kind of shapes, I...

pointlight / light emitter

Hi, I have read many topics about light emitting surfaces and that they are favoured somehow over the point/spotlights. So my question is how to do this? eg. the twilight can light has a tiny spotlight inside to lit the can and a pointlight to light the scene. How do i use a light emitter for this p...

Re: my style of Rembrandt.

First I need to say I love the image, like the whole setting and lightning! The only thing I like to mention is that I am somehow distracted by the background image through the window. Is this a through a window and why does it appear to be a blue sky but is it tinted brownish/dark, if it was a suns...

Re: Kitchen

Thanks for the comments and feedback! Some additions to this: light is pouring in from (presumably) a white emitter plane outside the windows Nope, it is just 'use sun for shading and the right time of day to get the light in through the window, so no emitter plane used here. Agree that it is bit to...

Kitchen

Working on a kitchen for my in-laws. C&C welcome! kitchen-1.jpg It is a render on easy 9 just 5 passes.... keuken1-easy9.jpg this is an easy 9 rendered overnight. It always seems to boil down to lighting :) BTW drawed the kitchen (Bulthaup b1) from scratch from images from theiur website. This i...

Re: Modern Villa with infinity pool

The fact is that double-bounce caustics (aka, sun-pool caustics) (light shining through a dielectric material such as water, and then coming back out again to the observer) do not work with Easy 08, 09 and 10. The solution is same as for many unbiased render engines... place a plane beneath the wat...

Re: can't get the lights on....

fakes shades don't do it for me, they are equally lit which makes it unrealistic. Found a way to overcome teh 'angled view' issue. Just placed a top cap on the shade and used a lighter shade material to fake the open top as the inside of the shade obviously is more lit then the outside(through) of t...

Re: can't get the lights on....

Hmmm, still a bit puzzled.... - Why does the shade needs the 'thickness' and so a single face shade doesn't work? - why doesn't the shade matial reflect light but only when light passes through? And that makes me wonder what if I would use any color material, make it a bit translucent and apply eg. ...

Re: can't get the lights on....

Ok, after some trial and error I found out thet the sahde neesd 'thickness' So I created a lampsahde with 1mm thickness, inserted a spot and a apoint light and I saw the light...but... indeed the sahde was lighted up by the pointlight and teh spotlight nicely produced the light circles beneath the l...
