Fletch, I've got Ambient Occlusion as a setting under Tech>Specialised>Ambient Occlusion.

Nice one Chris. Good to see someone else inspired by Alex and ixlrlxi. I been a fan of both for some time, need to play with the techniques again myself. Have you looked at ixlrlxi's work on his webpage? http://ixlrlxi.livejournal.com/. He is also on DeviantArt under the alias '600V'

Hi All I am looking to improve my workflow with regard to applying materials and would like feedback on how I intend to deal with it. Ah. I think there is a problem with using two point perspective, it has come up before in previous posts like this one.

Have you tried checking the "fit to view proportions" box in the render window? That should keep the render the same as the SU view.

Looks good so far.Put lights under the wall cabinets especially over the sink. Add some reflection to the hob and the jars on the shelf look a bit too diffuse.

Texture baking/walkthrough
Are we likey to see any development in texture baking for TWR, which would allow realtime walkthrough intstead of making an animation?
