Version 1.1

Post by Chris » Mon Nov 16, 2009 4:51 pm

Announcing our next release, version 1.1!!

http://www.twilightrender.com/public_da ... 2_v1_1.exe

Just download and run the installer. There is no need to uninstall any previous version; the installer will copy over the existing files. Make sure you don't delete your license (in Plugins/Twilight)!!

The big new features we've added:

Several languages available:
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Chinese (simplified and traditional)
  • Japanese
  • German
You can choose your language from Options -> Twilight Languages.
Choose your language, close the dialog, close and re-open SketchUp. Now Twilight will appear in the chosen language. If you do not have the correct language pack installed on your computer, the characters will not show up correctly.

A huge thanks to all those who helped put those translations together!!!
"Frenchy Pilou"
Miguel Lescano Cornejo (Ecuadorian) and "Smiley"
Burkhard Bals
Tosiharu Kimura
陳彥宏 Chen Yen-Hung

A new View-and-Framing Tool:
PositionViewTool.jpg
PositionViewTool.jpg (31.79 KiB) Viewed 10141 times
  • Frames exactly what will be rendered and adds guide lines to aid composition
  • Condenses pan, orbit and look around functions into one handy tool
  • Allows you to accurately set the focus distance without reorienting the camera
  • Can be linked to a SketchUp keyboard shortcut for quick access
  • Grey bars (Letterboxing) are no longer shown/needed
This replaces two previous features: The "letterboxing" seen when you uncheck the 'Fixed Aspect Ratio' checkbox, and the "Set Camera Target" context menu choice. You are no longer limited to 'focusing' only on objects in the center of the view. Orbit around the 'highlighted' geometry point instead of some mystery point. All action is done with the left mouse button, leaving the middle mouse button available for the traditional SketchUp orbit tool.

And a lot more fixes and features

New Licensing Mechanism
When licenses are processed, they will now be activated using a text code instead of a license file. (Don't worry, your existing license is still fine!!)
If you are running Windows Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit and did not upgrade to 1.0.19, you will need to re-request your license

Projector Lights
  • Corrected the upside down issue
  • Image aspect ratio is now automatically detected
  • Aspect ratio can be locked for easy manipulation
Materials
  • Linked bump and reflection channels now automatically unlink whenever you make a color or texture change, to prevent accidentally contaminating your SU scene.
  • SSS material template has been redone to give dramatically better results.
Usability:
RightClickImageMenu.jpg
RightClickImageMenu.jpg (28.5 KiB) Viewed 10450 times
  • "Stop Before Next Pass" added to the image context menu, allowing you to tell Twilight to stop as soon as it's done with the current pass.
  • Combined undo steps to make undoing easier
  • Layers in components are rendered as they are visible, by default. You can choose to render "All Layers" from the context menu.
-This is a change from previous versions that may cause different results in your scene.
Image support:
  • Transparency of TGA images is now directly recognized.
  • Twilight can now save rendered images as EXR
Fixes
  • IES lights not loading or crashing (some lights may still not load if the format is unrecognized)
  • Material shininess problems
  • Improved search for IES files and material textures
  • Fixed DLL conflict with other plugins
And More!

I just want to clarify any issues about licenses.

First, when you install, just run the installer. There is no need to uninstall any previous version. This will help prevent accidentally deleting your license.

That said, if you have an existing license, Do Not Delete It. Your license is perfectly valid for ALL installation of Twilight Render in the 1.x series.

The only exception to this are the people:
Running Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit
-and-
Are using Version 1.0.1 or 1.0.6 before the upgrade

Those people will need to request a new license by emailing a license request (Options->About->Request License, save file to the Desktop and email it) to licensing at twilightrender dot com

All other users don't need to do anything at all.

If somehow your license got deleted or lost, you can always email us at licensing at twilightrender dot com to request a new one.
