Hi there,
Can anyone help me with a problem of banding or striping of curved surfaces when applying metal finishes (using brushed metal - aluminum from the templates)? The SketchUp curve has 30 faces on a semi circle and is smoothed to the maximum. I have attached a quick render - using render setting 11 - showing the banding in Twilight, and another which is rendered with Shaderlight just for comparison.
Appreciated it you can assist!

When that happens, you need to place the geometry in a group and adjust the smoothing accordingly. For some reason, when SketchUp reports geometry outside of any group or component, it can sometimes be faceted like that.

After following Chris' advice, be sure to apply the texture in SketchUp so that the texture mapping is proper and won't appear faceted.

Paint material onto curved face
Turn on View Hidden Geometry in SketchUp (would be good to have a shortcut key for this)
Using Material Tool in SketchUp, hold the Alt Key to get the eyedropper, then sample the image of the first face of the curve with the paint bucket+ALT key,
then let go of alt and paint the adjacent face, then sample that face with alt, then paint ...
