Night Shot - Exposure and Lighting

When rendering a night shot, it's important that the lights have a warm glow, while still being able to "read" the exterior of the photo subject.
Here's an example of a rendering and an actual evening photo. Notice with the real world photo, the photographer has clearly done multiple exposures and post-processed the image in order to tonemap the lighting so that the lights glow, yet the exterior is quite brightly lit. Even so, it still "reads" as a "night shot".
In this Subject: Several outdoor renders by Alvydas, also the exterior of the building can be clearly seen. Perhaps it could do with even a brighter exposure without losing any of it's "night time" quality.
In Subject: Beach House by JCA it could benefit (when compared to the photo above) from warming up the lighting considerably.
