You can't just stick a ring in the sky and expect it to look good in real photography - why would you think it's any different in Twilight?
It's the right lighting and composition that is important for jewelry shots in Twilight, just as in real life.
For a great video tutorial and great diagrams regarding studio lighting setups, check the

What about smaller product shots? Here are some thoughts about shooting Jewelry Photography that you can apply to your Twilight Jewelry Renderings

great article on Shooting Fine Jewelry here.)

THESE ARE NOT RENDERINGS THEY ARE ACTUAL PRODUCT SHOTS USED TO DEMONSTRATE A POINT.
for pearls - and round objects - using one light source will give better contrast/round results.

This package of HDR
Light Tents (HDR studio lighting) by Rayman 8Mb was shared at the Kerkythea forum, but was, as he says, intended for users of any render engine. They give great instant lighting for product shots.
We suggest using the
HALF resolution Light Tents 5Mb version of the HDR images to light the scene, as lighting quality remains high... and it will still render quickly/cleanly.
Another
set of fantastic studio HDR (low-res, great lighting, reflections OK) put together by Jon at Kerkythea.net.

Added a great link for a Video tutorial teaching how to set up photo shoots with models, but also has something to learn from when setting up CG lighting.
