Rietveld's sideboard
Re: Rietveld's sideboard
Looks better
Have you thought of maybe trying Thom Thom's plugin for creating geometry from a greyscale image for the floor/wall? It's a little bit like having displacement for SketchUp.

Re: Rietveld's sideboard
Yeah, I've tried that one, but I assume it works only with very low resolution maps because I wasn't able to do anything...
Have to give it another try.

Re: Rietveld's sideboard
Exactly, read the thread I link to above very carfully. I think it will be useful, after getting used to the technique.
Re: Rietveld's sideboard
The same floor and the same wall...( ) but a different mood. This time were used only the sun & sky portal as lighting (gamma 0.85, exposure 1.7). The first image is raw Twilight output while the second has a bit of post work.

Re: Rietveld's sideboard
Thanks to both.
@ Alvydas I'm not a designer (I'm an architect, a teacher, a town planner and a former photographer of architecture) and I do these renders mostly for fun using objects that I like.
@ Indeed Jerome as I wrote in the subject.

Re: Rietveld's sideboard
for the casual render hobbyist I would say it's a great image... but for you, my respected friend, I would say that the wood seems lifeless on the sideboard furniture. It may be fun to experiment with the saturation in the high-key image of just the apples, to draw the eye across the image more strongly. And it would be nice to see it higher res, but the floor is still a tiny bit
