Portfolio Cover Page
I've been working on a cover page for my academic portfolio. I just thought I would share, and open up to any ideas or critiques you folks may have. The idea I have with the sketch to watercolor to render is to show a bit of process as it is an application portfolio showcasing my school work to date. The figure (yes, me) is displaying that every detail, even the tipping chairs, has been carefully executed. Anyway, let me know what you think. Sorry you have seen a similar scene several times now, but I think I've made some good alterations.

Re: Portfolio Cover Page
Thanks guys... Well I used the sketchup output and some trace paper to sketch a version of it, then I used the sketchup output with photosketcher to make a watercolor looking version. Then of course I did the rendered version. So I had the three layers in photoshop and selected and deleted areas of each layer, with feathering, to make it a smooth transition from sketch to render. My "Signature" was actually rendered as an emitter, but the figure was added in photoshop, along with some glowing effects.
I hope this makes sense... If not, I can explain better.

It looks good! I cannot stop using the technique now! One thing, if you are good with a pencil, I think it looks really great if you can do a real hand sketch, but otherwise maybe some messing around could make the sketchy part look a bit more like a hand sketch. Have fun!

What are the best printers to use for portfolio samples? I'm a graphic designer and will be moving to Atlanta in July. I have'nt need to show a portfolio for years now and wanted feedback on some of the brands that other graphic designers use for portfolio prints. I used to have an Epson (the model number escapes me) and was quite happy with it. Is it still the best on the market for home use? Or has another brand supplanted it? Really I want to know what brands are being used and the quality of the prints.
