Post by David_H » Thu Feb 25, 2010 6:26 pm

I have tried lots of ways to do this. . .I am trying to acheive this look on an antique Light bulb. I can't get the right kind of emitter or Illuminant or whatever to show thru the glass of my bulb model to acheive this . Any guidance?

Thx,

Not sure, off hand, about the emitter, but I know the glass will play a big part in producing the halo. It has all those minor imperfection, scratches, dust, etc, that cause alot of scatter. You could mess around a bit with the SSS material types for the glass (Interior+ preset is almost mandatory for getting this realistic).

The scratches and stuff isn't the big deal. I was just wondering how to get an interior Glow Halo inside the bulb. Thanks for the feedback. I'll give it a try.

some inspiration from the LEGENDARY Jenderzych

what you are seeing as glow is the result of a hot filament, and the exposure of the camera setting creating the glowing look.
you can try to model the glow... I'm not sure.
