Glass Conservatory
Re: Glass Conservatory
I updated original post with a warmer version.
thanks for the comments stu
hmm maybe more reflection or less transparency....i dunno it looked like glass to me. I used architectural glass for the panes and common realistic glass for the structural members.
before anyone asks...the building is by itself in a huge field so thats why theres no background image..,,made my life a bit easier!

Oli....yeah, maybe more reflection and a tad less transparency?...but having said that....glass is not one of my strong points

Chris: with all due respect, regarding Macs, you may be looking at it from a developer's standpoint, but from an end user's standpoint software should just work, regardless of PC or Mac. Twilight has been a tremendous benefit to me in my work. But having to carry a Windows laptop home so that I can use Twilight, when I have a Mac Pro Octo dying to run it, I get a little frustrated. I would urge you to support a Mac version. Also, i would urge you to keep Twilight SIMPLE to use, because that is the secret to its attraction.
Re: Glass Conservatory

Re: Glass Conservatory
they r great Oli, great
Re: Glass Conservatory
looking great - if you copy the render as an additional layer on top of itself and choose "soft light" blending mode (pshop) and adjust opacity to something quite low, it will hopefully give you some additional depth/details.

Re: Glass Conservatory
Very nice renders.
The projecting stonework around the openings is a little unusual - I'd normally expect masonry surrounds (excepting cills perhaps) to be flush or nearly flush with the main wall face.
I like to see structural glass and have used it on a few jobs, though always with the glass fins internally, and on the larger schemes you need to use "spiders" to connect the different elements.

thnaks for the comments!
john: I just modeled the house as existing.....thats how its constructed, I'm not sure why the stone is exressed so much but thats how it is. its a grade 2 listed barn house in yorkshire. thats one of the reasons for a completely glass structure....to maintain a visual connection with the period gable.
I'll look into the spiders, my boss reckons you don't need them on this project but I couldn't understand how they keep the connections so stiff and secure. I'll look into it more anyway...hasn't even gone through planning yet, these images were to help gain approval.
fletch: on my mac the image looks very deep and warm, and on my pc they still look quite blue and cold!! ahhhhhhhhh!!! im leaving the previous render over weekend to cook so 60+ hours will also help reveal some of the details, too noisy at the moment

Re: Glass Conservatory
Have you tried (or do you use) one of these? Should fix your problems when working on multiple systems, and if profiled right will give you a great preview of what the actual print's gonna look like. Personally, I love it and wouldn't want to do without.olishea wrote:fletch: on my mac the image looks very deep and warm, and on my pc they still look quite blue and cold!! ahhhhhhhhh!!! im leaving the previous render over weekend to cook so 60+ hours will also help reveal some of the details, too noisy at the moment
Again, an awesome render so far. Can't wait to see the final image after the weekend
Some say there are no stupid questions. I'm in the habit of proving those people wrong.
