Grass (fur) Generator for Sketchup
Hello!
I have good news for those who were seeking a simple way to create grass or fur on their models:
The user tak2hata has posted in Sketchucation forum the plugin "Make Fur,I am not yet tested with TW but I think it will work very well.

Thank you Lex, this will be great for tufted rugs as well!

Re: Grass (fur) Generator for Sketchup
flipya you can generate different types of grass/leaf/carpet....there are 4 different types. i think the carpet one is number 4.
so i put the grass in a hidden layer and rendered through twilight no problems.
each line represents a blade of 'grass'. although i could have just placed the grass group on a hidden layer.
looks like this will bring a whole new dimension to sketchup

Re: Grass (fur) Generator for Sketchup
Thanks for the tip mate. Been playing with this thing, trying to come up with a nice setting for tufted rugs. I think I'm on the right track. Used the settings seen below, and then opened a componentand joint-pushpulled it about 2 mm. Found it to be still too grassy looking so I took off the tip in the component (again: see below). Second image is a comparison on Easy 08, 8 passes. Top is straight out of plugin, bottom is with edited components. Rendertime was exactly the sameolishea wrote:flipya you can generate different types of grass/leaf/carpet....there are 4 different types. i think the carpet one is number 4.
It's a 50*50cm patch that I want to copy instances of to make a full rug. Still need to work out how to get the edges to look ok.
BTW Oli, I never really cared for that 'pollen' model from an aesthetic point of view, but really love it with the grass on it

Wow!!...this is a serious Ruby....Im putting it up there in the top five or ten right away!!
Ive been playing around with presets and actually in the attached image I accidently applied two grass presets....so double the coverage...and it still rendered well!!
The attached settings are for the second....slightly longer grass
One really good thing about using this Ruby is that shadow on the grass renders realistically
