distressed watercolour tests

Post by davidh » Fri May 21, 2010 12:30 pm

Attached are 2 images created using sketchup, twilight and fotosketcher to try and create a watercolour-type effect.fotosketcher allows you to transform an image into one that looks something like a watercolour but it still requires some manipulation in photoshop.what I am ultimatley trying to achieve is a worn/faded watercolour effect.the second image is taking this to an extreme using distressed paper scans and stained paper jpgs.

David, I really like your images....and I love FotoSketcher!

I prefer the first image.

A question though.....where is Twilight?...could you have achieved a similar result from a vanillla SU export?

Cool images! Is this the same project you posted a while ago?

I like your style. First ones my favorite, second's a little over the top for my taste :D

I have always enjoyed your watercolor renders and this is yet another beautiful work :^: . The second one kind of reminds me of an old worn postcard :) . It does seem a little foreground heavy though. If you pulled the tree branch back a little to show more of the sky, I think it may be a better proportion.

here is another watercolour, this is probably the one I am most satisfied with.
Stu,Regarding the previous images they can of course be taken straight from sketchup into fotosketcher but I find that Twilight, particularly the interior setting gives a more subtle effect to the shadows. Also I would use Twilight when i have a lot of glass (for reflections) and especially for lighting for night shots.
The lighting for this was a semipherical hdri with no sun.

David , this third one is beautiful as well!

Yes, Twilight's effect is going to be more noticable with lighting and reflections.

that last image is killer, it's no doubt because of the lighting. 8-)
