Lighting Test
Used SSS on chandelier glass. Density 1, Alpha 0. IOR 1.050
Point light bulb set to .20 strength.
Wanted to use the Diamond material on the chandelier from the Gem collection, but it wouldn't render properly. Tried it at Easy 10
Ended up using Gold Metal as a quick test.

Re: Lighting Test
This was the results of the Diamond material on the chandelier.
I think I am missing something.

Re: Lighting Test
Great minds think alike.
I'm working on the same room. Downloaded from Sketchup Texture.
I found the shape of the bulb has something to do with how it glows.
I struggle with brightness, size and texture of bulb.
Found slight frosted works best but a real pain in the butt sometimes.

Re: Lighting Test
Nothing seems wrong with the diamond material. Just let it cook longer. The diamond material from gems pack uses a complex NK file (measured IOR data) and include dispersion. That means long render times. If you are in hurry I would try with diamond or flint glass template or something.
Bear also in mind that lighting is crucial for that kind of materials.
If you want to play with those materials maybe you can start with a simpler scene.

Do you have a small sample of how the frosted looks?Jpalm wrote:Found slight frosted works best but a real pain in the butt sometimes.
They have some great models on that sight as well as a plethora of great textures. Not sure if we can post the link per their disclaimer.
Thanks massimo, I am not blaming the material, you are exactly right. I was in a hurry so I will let it cook longer. Will Easy 10 do the trick?massimo wrote:Nothing seems wrong with the diamond material. Just let it cook longer... If you are in hurry I would try with diamond or flint glass template or something.
Re: Lighting Test
Will cook something.
Also I found with that shape bulb, the location of omni (Up/down) makes a difference.

Easy 10 is good for that kind of lighting/materials.Will Easy 10 do the trick?

Re: Lighting Test
Let this one cook for 60 passes using the Diamond Material from the Gems library
Use the Diamond Template from Realistic Glass for this one
