SubSurface Scattering Play

Post by rangerrick » Sun Feb 09, 2014 11:47 pm

I had some time indoors due to the extreme cold temps -28C and so was exploring Twilight's SSS materials.
A couple of renders.

"Really nice work on the lighting, Rick!"
Thanks Fletch

Jpalm, my settings and scene setup are as shown. Same scene for the beans except I use an HDRI and deleted the point light,
The dragon head material is based on the SSS Template Wax and I lowered the SSS density to 15.00. A lot of tweaking involved
depending on your lighting set up.

That first image is great. I love the lighting and the SSS material came out really nice. SSS materials is one area I haven't really experimented in... how long did these images take to render?

These were rendered with easy 09 interior progressive, about 1200 pix width, 100 passes was about 1.5 - 2.0 hours.
