First Trials of Twilight

Post by starrigger » Wed Feb 18, 2015 5:16 pm

So far I am liking very much! I came over here from the Kerk site, One of the issues I was having was that the Kerk Sketchup plugin could not handle some of my larger models Twilight is FAST! well done. Anyway, here are some early tests...

That's fascinating Starrigger. :^:

It would improve if you could improve the textures - the plain white is just not convincing. example example example

I really like the astroid space station idea. :^:

I agree! Just an early test, most textures are not present or finished...

Wonderful ! can't wait to see the improved version ! :gj:
Btw, use absolute sharp shadows, no blur on edges at all (you don't have any atmosphere to cause diffraction)

Hi Steve, looking pretty cool!

After you get all the materials right, I think the lighting setup is always the most difficult part of these space images. I lean toward "artistic" lighting more than I do "realistic" lighting.
Hope you can find some of your favorite space images for reference and work from there.

those are looking pretty cool Steve! You really need to learn how to use procedurals and mix materials so that you can get more realistic/grittier textures... with Twilight's deep material editor your possibilities for space-age materials is endless.

Thanks for the words, Fletch! With Hobby I don't have access to the "Deep" stuff (can't afford Pro yet...), but I have ported over some of the materials I worked with in Kerk, we'll see how they do. In mean time here's the back...
