1st test render (interior)

I hv been a silent observer for a while
now I attached my 1st render ,any C & C
to help me improve are most welcome

I like the second render best. I.M.H.O. the window frame looks a bit artificial, different settings might improve it.

Nice start, the bedhead seems to flat, try to add a Bump map for more relief.

It's looking pretty good. I really like the outside view you have created.

A few details I think would improve things is, a different texture on the head board, a different telephone, or replace it with something else and a different material on the window frame.

I like the phone, keep it—but it needs to look more like plastic, there's a template group for plastics. For the window, try the paint-flat template.

If the headboard texture is the one I have, I have a bumpmap for it. linking the bump to the SketchUp texture will probably do the trick though. Give it some shiny and you'll be pleased.

That is, if you're not already pleased. :)

Tom,
I'm not sure of the bumpmap's availability for being shared, it might have restrictions. Seems to me though, that if you have the texture, you should have access to the bumpmap.

To link the bumpmap to the SketchUp texture just click the chain button in the Bump section of the material editor. Test render that and you should see a difference. You might need to increase the "size" of the bump to 4 or 5 to get the effect you want. It would also help if you applied a template to the headboard texture to give it some reflectivity. Trial and error will get you there.

new toy always get me overly exited
so many things to play with till u don't know what u

Re the bump map it should be from FF, I should hv it, just
overlook because this is an old testing model

This is not exactly correct. If you do NOT have a bumpmap, but want to use the Texture Image as the bump map, simply click the chain button in the Bump Channel.


This is explained clearly in the Getting Started Video Tutorial #1 and Intermediate Video Tutorial #1 Please watch the tutorials! It will take an experienced SketchUp user about 30-45 mins to watch them all.

To link the true bump map texture, you will need to make sure the link to SketchUp is BROKEN and choose "Texture" in the bump channel slot, then browse to find the true bump map texture file.
