Porsche 550 for the modern user.
Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
This is really coming along.
Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
I thank you, Sir.
I have taken Fletch's colour comments to heart as even during the surface testing the better the body looks the more feedback I get from each render. It may seem like I ignore your comments for improvement but it takes me a while to work out how to fit them into my work flow, I can be very target fixated which is my weakness. I do really appreciate the corrective guidance and in time my feeble brain does act on the help I get. Thank you one and all. In this I have taken one of Majid's paint finishes which does the tone adjustment thing and brings out the shapes better so thanks to Majid too.

Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
That's looking much better.
Setting up your own lighting studio is rewarding and a great learning experience, it can be quite an advanced level task.
If you don't feel comfortable doing that - Keep the ground plane and maybe try this hdri studio? You can adjust the power of the HDRi by changing the power of the sky, or by changing the exposure in the post-process tab of the render dialog.

or this?

Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
Some progress, I am obviously finding some areas where geometry is problematic to say the least but while the geometry is still a wip it is improving, I hope. Anyone have tips for door and bonnet shut lines etc?

Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
Thanks mate, much appreciated.
Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
I'm not sure how to comment to help development of this - I think you know what you're going for better than I do.
a couple thoughts:
Do you have SubD plugin for SketchUp? Learning to use it will be essential (imho) if you are planning on doing many car models with SU.
The roll bar is missing realistic material properties.

Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
I have not yet used SubD, I just have not got to grips yet, perhaps my workflow needs to change. I have the instrument cluster lit up for the most part as it will be in final but the rest needs tweaking to get realistic shut lines and opening sections of the body. There is a fuel tank in the usual Porsche 550 speedster location but not cut the bonnet yet.
I think I'll stop posting the minor changes and wait till I finish or the thing crashes. Stay well folks.
The roll bar is a plastic finish.

Re: Porsche 550 for the modern user.
Sorry for stupid question - So this is your modern design for an existing classic Spyder chassis?
Is it just for virtual fun or you intend to build it?
It's a pretty amazing SU model for sure.
Rendering looking great for a progress shot.
