Blender 3D experiments
Blender 3D experiments
It is a while that I have had no new project so spent some spare time learning to model and render using blender 3D.
It seems that there are lots that I need to know and compared to Sketchup+Twilight, it is a nightmare to model and render. By the way here is the result.

Re: Blender 3D experiments
Hi Majid! Looks great!
Blender is a fantastic modeling package and great for curvy surfaces and parametric modeling, both of which are not available in SketchUp.
I like the easy quad modeling and clean topology.
Sculpting is great, painting textures, UV mapping, animation. Blender is powerful.
This is my first model done 2 years ago in Blender.
I love SketchUp for Architecture, but for anything curvy that needs UV mapping, I will create it in Blender.

Re: Blender 3D experiments
That is great Fletch. You are so talented and inspiring, I appreciate it!
Blender is powerful but the learning curve is too deep IMO.

Re: Blender 3D experiments
I recommend this amazing tutorial by Imphenzia for anyone trying to learn Blender, I've even watched it 2x.
Here's a model done in Blender that would have been extremely difficult for me in SketchUp. Maybe Alvydas or Massimo could pull it off. But us mere mortals need something that likes curves and quads.

Re: Blender 3D experiments
Nah, man! The model and render both are shattering!
Re: Blender 3D experiments
Couldn’t agree more. One of these days I will be able to get back to trying to model again.
BTW Fletch, thanks for sharing the video. Went through it “roughly” and will watch it again (probably more than once) at regular speed. It looks very informative.

Fletch, thanks for sharing the video. It is absolutely essential for any beginner, I think. It was very informative.
Re: Blender 3D experiments
Blender and SketchUp are tools. I like them both for what they do best. I like knowing how to use different tools.
Honestly, however, I would not build in Blender without Speedflow plugin. The speedflow plugin makes Blender fast and fun.
It gives it an easy to use fast interface.
Re: Blender 3D experiments
My gosh!... another surprise, I didn't know this. I used to use Bmax add-on in the past, but it is a while that I use Blender without any add-ons.
