Answer to the first question. Get Twillight! Both are integrated in Sketchup. You can continue to work on the model while rendering in the background, dont recall IDX can do that. Havent tried the new version of IDX though.
Ive only used TWL for a couple of days and get similar results as in Kerkythea but with much less hassle. No export, no merging. All changes stays in the model and SU domain. Time is money.
