How do I make this lampshade?

I've got a cool pendant lampshade that has a holographic starburst pattern. Is it possible to set materials up in Twilight to use the inter-reflectivity of the glass to cause this effect?

Did you build it yet?
It should be possible yes.

I've built a similacrum, once I get home I'll measure it up to get the glass thickness right and redo it.

Will it be a texturing thing you think? Or will I have to make holes and fill them with some other material?

Not sure how to make that material as from the image I'm not sure what I'm looking at exactly.

But I made this scene as food for thought.
Take a close look around and let me know what you think.

Render the scene called "Spots" with exposure set to "2" and use Easy 06. Easy 03 has only 5 reflections set - you can try it and see what that looks like. Experiment.

Here's what it looks like IRL: It's set up like a mirror—the outside is smoked a little, and the inside is painted with mirrored silver and has holes or voids in the paint. Light shining through it makes the infinite reflections happen.

I'm going to try texturing the inside just like IRL and see what happens when I place a point light inside and render at easy 09

I don't believe it worked as well as it has.

The outer material is Architectural Glass: Mirrored Glass, with a blue/gray color from SketchUp
The inner material is Brushed Metal: Silver with this .png:

The back side of the outer surface is Architectural Glass: Reflective with a blue color.

I'm going to save this and try manipulating the color of the light from top to bottom with a third shell inside the lampshade that graduates from orange at the top to pink and back to orange at the bottom. the IRL lampshade has these subtle color changes and I think that's the best way to do it—color the light before it hits the shade. Would that work? I'll find out I guess.

Any pointers at this point would be appreciated

A few iterations of trial and error and I have it to my satisfaction.

Here's the context. Looks just about right.

Great work - and lovely rendering. :)
