How Fast Are You - Official Twilight Scene - Bauhaus Lamp

well, bjornkn, if it makes you feel better, amoark, above you, "won".

Looks like he passed me there while I was testing (and not refreshing..)Fletch wrote:well, bjornkn, if it makes you feel better, amoark, above you, "won".
But I'm quite confident that I will get the record back if I test on my laptop!
That AMD CPU alone cost me twice as much as the laptop ($1200 for CPU), but I knew that nothing lasts forever, and that the performance apparently still doubles every 18 months..
Wonder if Phenom II X6 1100T or i5 2500K or i7 2600K would be a better choice speed/price-wise?
I like AMD, and I think it would be a disaster if Intel reigned the arena alone...

What you need to figure is how better rendering is with hyperthreading. By that I mean too, you need to understand how well your softwares work with technologies like hyperthreading.bjornkn wrote: Wonder if Phenom II X6 1100T or i5 2500K or i7 2600K would be a better choice speed/price-wise?

Obviously Twilight benefits from hyperthreading, but probably not as if there was 2x more cores. Then your budget will pick the winner.

@bjornkn
I had the same thoughts as you for a long period: AMD or Intel. I personally prefer AMD as for the same reason as you. But after comparing A1090T and i5-2600K/i7-2600K it was obvious for me that from the technology side Intel is the best option at the moment. If you still want to use AMD may be it would be worth a thought to wait for the new AMD Bulldozer CPUs which shall be available in a few weeks.
So long

Maybe Bulldozer/Zambezi is worth a little wait?
Mid-summer, isn't it?
I usually don't follow CPU development except when it's time for an upgrade. It looks like that X6 1100T isn't that far behind in 3D rendering speed, but more so with games (which I don't do much).
