Thanks for the comments, always good to hear feedback.
Here's another progress shot... changed view angle, added many lights, and developed materials further.
I have updated the original post with more accurate number for processing time of entire scene.
In Twilight architecture, bones, and all takes about (processes in) 37s.

Components are copied as many times as they repeat.
sometimes 2x, sometimes 1700x
Here's a progress shot with some post pro vignette, glow/volumetrics/depth. (probably a little too much post pro.
)
Changed more lighting here, added a couple lights on wall behind camera to fill foreground stairs better.

a little higher res now, with more subtle post-pro depth and volumetrics.
right-click view image for full resolution.

Have you tried a slight f-number change to add depth at render time? would be interesting to see on a shot like this one

thanks pdwyer and rich! I just updated the image in the post above... it's a bit sharper now.
When I mentioned I was adding depth in postpro, I should have said it was not a depth of field, but more just a boost in contrast in certain places to make the space feel "deeper".
I will use DOF when doing a shot with a foreground and background object, yes, thank you.

I was about to say that what I like best is how you have conveyed the "depth" of the space... Totally agree: if I was the photographer I would never use any DOF in a shot like this one in order to not "squish" the image.
Good job..
