Simple interior
This is a simple scene needed to show the bookcase to the client. Took 12 h of rendering.

Re: Simple interior
I have a little problem with the light coming from the ceiling.
De lamp is under the ceiling but the light is coming from above that and have some weird effect on the bookcase.
For the rest i like the modeling

Re: Simple interior
This is a strange issue. I have used a GE IES light for all bulbs of the pendant which renders like this - see light number 4. What do you mean by weird effect? The bookcase is throwing a shadow on the ceiling which menas that the light is lower than the case's upper edge. There is a second light source just left of the camera.hvanessen wrote:...

Re: Simple interior
It looks like there is a disco ball above the main lamp and that it is throwing caustics on the shelf (polka-dots of light).
Re: Simple interior
I like the images! I think they are very well done.
Only one small critique- The inside of the light fixture around each lightbulb does not appear to be brightly lit, this is detracting from believability.
I disagree with the comment above, you are simply seeing the specular reflection of the bulbs in the reflective surface of the bookshelves.

Re: Simple interior
good result. I think only the picture frame is too much softened geometry

Re: Simple interior
Now you guys have me thinking I'm crazy or missing something... I do like the Image and I'm not trying to be rude. It is all well done, but I wonder about these hi lighted items in the attached... Let me know if I'm missing something.Fletch wrote:I like the images! I think they are very well done.

Re: Simple interior
What an interesting discussion! Indeed Fletch is right - the surface of the bookcase's doors is reflecting the light from the bulbs. The highlight is a supernova light effect added in GIMP. I wanted to mimic the highlight form seeing directly into the light source of the bulb facing the camera. Here is the render without the effect added - you can see the same reflections on the bookcase.
Thank you all for your comments! You help me a lot with getting better renders.
What would be the best way to light the inside of the fixtures then?Fletch wrote:...

Re: Simple interior
Put the light source as a point light at size .5, strength 1, inside the "bulb" and use the "Lampshade Lemon Light" from the material library for your bulb material. (Use as simple geometry as possible for the light bulb)
(easier) You can also copy the light bulb from the outdoor light fixtures "Twilight_Outdoor_Upright_Classic_Clear" component in the Twilight Outdoor lights components pack. (available in the Resources Section of this forum for licensed Twilighters)

Re: Simple interior
Aha I see now. The effect was blocking that bulb from my view so I thought the super nova effect was floating in space. Also, I didn't realize how reflective the book shelves were for whatever reason so my mind didn't think reflection. It is all so clear now! Really very good images!
