Post by shamna » Tue Apr 19, 2011 12:32 pm

hi there, am planning to purchase a new pc or laptop...(whichever turns out to be the best choice for rendering with twilight)...
so could you please suggest the best pc configurations which will give me the fastest render time with twilight...(every single detail please....I'm a doofus when it comes to electronic devices)
P.S : I LOVE TWILIGHT :)

:welcome: shamna!

Best would be to see the Subject: How Fast Are You - Official Twilight Scene - Bauhaus Lamp thread and find the best laptop there. I suspect any recent laptop with 64bit system and at least 4Gb of RAM with as many threads/processors as possible will serve you well. (Hint: Look at the more recent posts)

Some here have reported that the Core i7 laptops perform well for them.

Are you still trying to decide between a desktop and a laptop? If so, you will likely get a ton more bang for your buck on a desk top. Not to mention

I think the best solution is to look precisely the topic the Bauhaus Lamp, but you made me come up with something, since the price of a lot of SSD (solid state disk) dropped almost always increases a lot ...... the performance of the PC, would also improve for twilight?? I could install one .... but I do not want to spend much money !!!!!!! Hello to all you guys!!
You are great !!!!! =) :rspkt: :rspkt: :rspkt:

SSD would improve productivity on your machine, if the SSD were used as the program disk, and you used a different disk as the data drive.
Using 2 SSDs, one for programs, one for data could really be nice.

A program will not run faster if stored on a SSD, but it will start faster and load/save files faster.
It will probably not make any difference when rendering, unless your PC starts swapping to disk.
With really disk intensive applications, like gigapixel stitching, the speed increase is said to be very high, particularly with several SSDs in a RAID config..

yes yes in fact I was not referring to a real increase in the provision of twilight, but to that of installed programs, in general, using SketchUp on a SSD will be faster in its daily use, I have 2 pc fairly recent (not older than 6 months and belong to bands quite high), only the mean !!!!! but thank you! =)))) good explanation!! however I think installing the corsair V64 nova, it seems a good compromise between price and performance!!
Bye men !!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
