Stella Apartments
I was inspired by some apartments in my neighborhood and decided to build something inspired by the Stella Apartment complex.
The reference image i'm using is:

Attached is my first draft. I've got quite a ways to go. I'm just working on the corner section for now.

Looks like maybe could use a bit of "Bye-Bye Blue Sky"

Thanks. yeah I have a long way to go. I'm kinda dreading adding in other buildings, but it looks so weird just having one building by itself.
Thanks for the tips on the blue removal.

I don't believe everything has to look so photorealistic that it has to include everything around it.....for example, try 'ghosting' the adjacent buildings so that a sense of scale can be achieved....or sit your model on a table so that it looks like a real model which has been built and photographed
there are great many tricks than be used, it depends on the message you are trying to convey, and how much time you have to effectively convey it

Re: Stella Apartments
continuousqa, perhaps you can download some other buildings from 3D warehouse.
Make sure you set them to the right scale, then, perhaps you can use the Depth of Field on the cameral to blur them out, or do it in post processing.
Just a thought.

Re: Stella Apartments
Thanks everyone for your awesome feedback. Ghosting is a great idea Gareth. Also, Mgiambrone43... good idea on importing some models, I actually did end up doing that a bit.... And Fletch, the reflection link is super cool.
I'm really impressed with the feedback.
So here's where I'm at currently. I actually went a slightly different direction, before reading your feedback. Instead of making it exactly like the photo, I just changed the location, I made it a stand a lone building, with trees, and grass to compliment it.
But now that you mention ghosting, and bringing in other buildings, I may do that to see which I like better.
Attached are three toning versions of the most recent results. Do you think the last image looks over processed? It looks kinda like a lomo or light leak type of image. I was thinking of adding some cars in the right side, as it looks like it's a parking space area now.
Gareth, do you know where I could see some examples of ghosting?

Thanks Fletch. I've added two versions. just a subtle post processing between them. they both introduce a car in the parking lot. One is slightly blur'd.

Re: Stella Apartments
I like them, the car provides some scale. Perhaps a silhouette of a person would serve the scale purpose better.
