Tree Sketch
An App for iPad allows creation of 3D trees and bushes. It is brilliant and great fun. Be as conventional or quirky as you want. An intro video is here http://vimeo.com/27366282 Files can be exported (via iTunes) only in FBX format, but can be converted using Autocad FBX Converter (free download) to...

Re: Default Sky Setting for Twilight... and speed up SU
First time for everything Fletch. I used Sketchup for the location, choosing La Paz, Bolivia, and as you can see it handled that fine for shadows. Whether it also adjusted for altitude - no way of knowing. As I said, originally I just used a 3D topo survey. I must have adjusted the X, Y origin in Sk...

Re: Default Sky Setting for Twilight... and speed up SU
Ah! the sketchp model file! as that is over 15.5mb maybe not a good idea. But yes Chris, you are right. It hadnt occurred to me till earlier. The terrain for the building model is derived from an original 3D topo survey in ACAD with contours all drawn at correct altitude, about 3500m and above, and ...

Re: Default Sky Setting for Twilight... and speed up SU
Kim, What do you mean "Without the scene..."? The first image "SK Shadows" is the image export of the scene, showing light from top left. Second image "Twilight Shadows" is saved Twilight render of the SK scene, light coming from bottom left. I wonder ....... The locati...

Re: Default Sky Setting for Twilight... and speed up SU
A follow up specifically about shadows Fletch.
Two images, one showing SK shadows, the other Twilight shadows.
How different could they be?
The Twilight sun looks as if it is coming from below ground!
Any explanation please?
Thanks.

Re: Default Sky Setting for Twilight... and speed up SU
Thank you very much Fletch for your speedy and comprehensive answers. I have done some further tests, without leading to the improvements I would like, which it might be helpful to send you. The text file lists all relevant data for each render. Main points. Physical Sky (1-.jpg, 2.jpg) - BLUE, No s...

Re: Default Sky Setting for Twilight... and speed up SU
Despite this advice, still my render is very very blue. Apologies in advance but dont know where might be best place to post these following comments. Having had some dissappointing results with rendering an outside view, I read the manual, searched forums, and watched the tutorial, and experimented...

Re: Templates and Libraries
However, if having first chosen one of these three, and a material different from these three is then applied, the appearance in SU does not change. The appearance from the last of those three materials applied is retained. But the new material is correctly displayed when rendered. Seems odd, we wil...

Re: Templates and Libraries
The material texture in SU will only change if a texture exists in the material from the library which you are applying has a texture which can be inserted. In many many cases for library materials there simply is no texture to insert, and therefore it remains unchanged. This is advantageous, for i...
