Light Pass Render setting?
Hello, I am trying to figure out the Light Pass render setting. I assume it only renders light sources. But when I try it using a kitchen scene with recessed lighting, the I get a black image except for an Emitter source used as a computer monitor. Yes, all the lights are turned on. My ultimate goal...

Re: Kitchen Remodel (Light problem)
Fletch,
Thanks, I tried your tips and they worked great. I think the biggest help was converting the Point to a Spot light. I also reduced the reflectivity of the ceiling a bit.

Re: Kitchen Remodel (Light problem)
Perhaps the answer is to replace the Point light with a Spot (with a wide Hot and Falloff) so that it cannot shine Up at all. Just thought of that.

Kitchen Remodel (Light problem)
Hello all, here is a kitchen remodel I have been working on. I am new to Twilight and Sketchup, but have learned a lot over the last few weeks. I like this render for the most part, except for the ceiling light at the top left. No matter what I do in Sketchup and TL, the light fixture always has a b...

TV Screen too shiny...suggestions?
Hello all, This is just a quick Preliminary render using a generic Sky Probe for lighting, but as you can see the screen on the Plasma TV seems way too shiny. I applied a Sketchup translucent material, then applied a TL Arch Glass Common template. Is there a way to make it less shiny like a real TV ...

Re: Kitchen remodel and first time user
Fletch, Thanks for the kind words. This is really my first time using rendering software, other than toying with Kerkythea a few years ago. I am slowly learning through this forum and a lot of experimentation! In my previous post; do you have any suggestions regarding the other question I had about ...

Kitchen remodel and first time user
Hello all, I have enjoyed playing around with SU and TR the last week or so. I decided to use a possible kitchen remodel as a tool for learning both SU and TR. So, here is my first render and the associated SU image. (The dark doorways at the far end of the render lead into an unlit living room and ...

Re: How to fake fire flames
I think I figured it out. I had the Point light on the same plane as the flame image. So, I offset the point lights. That made a big difference. Let me know if you have any other tips. Fire_test.jpg Btw, I have two images of the flames, each perpendicular to each other to give a more 3D effect from ...

Re: How to fake fire flames
I am having trouble getting good results. I have followed the instructions as described at the beginning of this post. I found a nice flame with black background, imported into Photoshop, used a mask to remove background, leaving a nice slightly transparent flame. Saved that as a PNG. Imported into ...

Re: Bump Map scaling?
Thanks Chris, Here is another, sort of related question. I am trying to create a bump map for some kitchen wall paint just to give the walls a little texture (eggshell). I found a pattern on the internet and opened it in PhotoShop (see attachment). I am having trouble determining how to scale/resize...
