Shiny without receiving reflections possible?
Trying to do a shiny acrylic plastic that does not receive any reflections. Is that possible? Or not receive light from the room?

Re: Studio Setup for Furniture
this is great! any tips for something like my attached render where I guess the walls are blocking the studio light? I want the floor to be hit with light. I know 90 is recommended rotation, is there another I should try? Experimenting on my own and seems the same. Or is the only way to add actual l...

Re: Render Engine Reset Taking Long
ok so it's definitely my image files being too big. I scaled them down @ .5 and geometry processing went from 31 seconds to 3. I make my images to scale in illustrator since these projects are eventually printed. This one specifically, the images are 8'x8'(6912 × 6913 72x72). When I did the .5 scale...

Render Engine Reset Taking Long
Is there anything specific that cause the render engine reset time to take long? For a 2 second prelim render it's taking like 20-30 seconds to reset.

Re: render help. times and other questions?
so, I neglected to mention you may need to drop the .skp file in the zip file. Please share again with the .skp file. :hat: opps...here you go, I think I understand a little better now and the surface I was referring to was being lit by fake emitter but now have another question with emitters... Th...

Re: render help. times and other questions?
Thank you that really helps!
do you mind taking a look at this small project. Still having trouble with emitter. I added a texture and I painted an emitter on the back and I'm not getting any light....I tried putting a spot inside the wall too at one point and nothing.

Re: render help. times and other questions?
This is some great info guys, love the photoshop layering advice! I made the renders below from before got your responses. Two are high + with different post processing and the other one is under Alternative_AA medium + (high) because I believe I saw it used in another volumetrics thread (labeled in...

render help. times and other questions?
Still kinda new to rendering/SU and have some questions. I have 2019 MBP i9, 32g ram. I'm assuming that's enough for decent render speeds since twilight uses CPU from what I understand? Most my renders are going to be interior with minimal room lighting and just effect lighting like color uplights, ...

Re: newbie, lighting help
I figured it out! So the squares were the same "default" material as the walls so when I applied aluminum to them, from what I can tell, it adds it to the wall as well. The squares came from same 3d set so weird that they were different materials. Leaving my post in case anyone experiences...
