They can be tricky indeed, how about trying this?
Or try the settings below (beware, renders rather slowly).
For external views I'd use as basic as possible, a lot of the details will be lost with reflections and what not...

Good start! One of the things to always keep in mind is reflections. As you can see for yourself, the reflection in the windows shows the asphalt abruptly changing into grass. Breaking this up by placing some simple 2d bushes, a fence or some cars in the model adds to the realism. Also, consider rep...

Fantastic, just fantastic. The pointy archy thing could do with a finer mesh (and the outer rim of the eye as well) but I still love them. These weren't textured using projection were they?
