Stunning renders, Mike! :hat:
Tell us about how you put the scene together or found inspiration for the design?

Thanks Fletch, you may have guessed that I like a dark and moody render and I submitted one such render to Lightworks competition many moons ago while using a render program called Renditioner. I achieved third place but was never really happy with it. I also did a Christmas eve scene with a tree and all the trimmings with a mirror and a snowman on a balcony looking into the room. I have seen many folk make a better fist of things and taken many views and parts inspiration from just looking around. I think this model comes from Sketchup texture club.

I get a lot of my inspiration comes from the people here and on Sketchucation, hidden little items in a landscape that you only see on second or third glance which I try to do. For example, I went through a faze of using an image on a wall at the periphery of the render or just off to one side, a crazy cat cartoon,

I am attaching one of the many Christmas renders I did with Renditioner V3, it's defunct now as far as Sketchup goes but survives in one of the well known CAD programs out there name of which I forget. Well, I have only had about three hours sleep this week which also affects the render and standard achieved.

I am redoing the render because I thought I had reduced the level of hdri emission but had not so the window should be less of a distraction.. Thanks to Rich O'Brien for noticing what I missed.

I am still determined to get it right on a more permanent basis and screw up less and everyone here contributes to that. When I get it right, a lot of it is down to all of you.

I thank you, Sir. The two ceiling lights, left and right have a weird 'stepped' effect on the geometry which Rich pointed out on the Sketchucation forum. I have zero idea what cause this. I tried reducing the offset from the light units themselves to the emitter but it is still following the geometry and 'off set'.

PS. The second two renders are from 2013.
