It can be done but requires use of the Deep Material Editor.

First, download the IES lights linked in the first post (if you haven't already).
Now, create your geometry for your tube. In most cases you can get away with (and absolutely should!!) a single, long quad. Apply a new material to the front face (make sure the front face is pointing in your desired direction as it will only emit in the front direction).

Open the Deep Material Editor and select your newly created material (it's easier if you named it IES Tube or something like that).
Delete the node under "Material" and instead right click on the Emissive channel and choose IES Light.
Select the IES light file you want to use (I choose #9).
Finally, add a Solid Color under the Radiance channel directly below your new IES Light node. Or add a procedural or texture for something a little more interesting.

Hi!

These look amazing! I have tried to use these to create downlights in my design, but i cant tend to get the actual source of light to light up (where the spotlight is located in the ceiling). Any advice? Many thanks!

Hi!

I am struggling with getting the source of light (where the bulb in the ceiling is located) to light up. I am sure it is me doing some silly mistake, but what could that be? Many thanks!

Insert an IES light object with the Light button from Twilight Render's toolbar. Then load the .ies file you wish to use.

I would like to share with you the spotlight (IES effect) that I most use for my works.
For me the quality of Twilight in terms of lighting and clarity is the same if I compare with Vray For 3ds Max, except that Twilight is much more easyer to setup and to use... :)

This is great, but is there a way to control the emissive brightness?
