Soap Skin Bubble Plugin for SketchUp - is free and it is amazing and easy for this type of thing.

So is the FerrariSketch plug-in and - according to many other users - a lot better than the outdated Soap Skin Bubble plugin... :|
Please note that the CurviLoft plugin by Fredo is also able to do this sort of modelling... ;)

Plus for Ferrari plugin is that it is connected to the real products on the market with other supports for this type of structure.

Official word about Ferrari Tensile Structure Plugin.
FerrariSketch is a plugin distributed by Ferrari Architecture for textile architecture shape-finding.
This is not an engineering software but only a tool to help professionals designing tensioned structures (architects); it is therefore limited to form-finding (using force density method, no load analysis or patterning here).
It is also limited in the forms diversity (external convex polygon creating a closed path of edges with the possibility to insert only one ring inside the polygon).

Version 1.1 (July 2010).
This program runs with Windows XP/Vista/7 on the Google SketchUp.
Easy Download the ruby here.

The main difference between this and the Soap Skin plugin is that the Ferrari Sketch plugin appears to be finding its shape using "force density method". I'm not sure what method is used by SSB.
