Some preliminary interior renders

Post by unclebim » Tue Feb 26, 2013 11:55 pm

Long time since I had something of interest to post. Here are some preliminary renders representing the idea about future interior. Some are rendered just over an hour at Easy 9 preset, others for few hours. All post processed in GIMP and eventually Neat Image. As always I spent a lot of time making the textures for the walls recreating wallpapers mostly. Comments and critics are welcome.

Too much texture I think.
Too busy for my taste.
But it's nice layout & lighting is nice

040 compressed is my favorite already :D I like that wall texture. Also lighting is very well done. Did you overlay 2D exports from SU with visible edges ? Looks pretty good even if it's hard noticeable.

Too busy for my taste too but the clients want it that way.

Yes, a hidden line image from SU was subtly overlayed with render.

Hi Unclebim! :D

focusing comments on the renderings:
pillows on the bed look bad. steal them from the couch and stretch 'em out a bit.
materials and lighting overall well done, avoiding views out of the windows make them seem a bit claustrophobic
the blue/grey bedroom seems dull/drab. I don't know if that's a design issue, or just a computer screen issue, or a image color issue, or a lighting issue.

I would say overall the lights could be warmer, they all seem cold white. This one thing could make all of the scenes come more to life.
Showroom Layout - warm lights

That said, The living/dining room lighting does look warmer than the bedroom. I don't know if that's due to light color or color scheme of materials.

Finally - your rug needs help.

Thank you very much, Fletch!

The bedroom was rendered before the living room and it was in a hurry, I shall definitely change the pillows, bed also maybe as well as the color of the lights - changed to 255, 244, 229 for the most of the lights in the living room then.

Allowing views form the windows seems a nice advice to take for the final rendering.

The rug was a last minute change, I tried to model one with your settings but it took more than 6 runs of fur plugin and was becoming too large a file so i dropped it. I should try again when I have more time to see what I do wrong.
