Tree maker plugin
Tree maker plugin
Have a look at this

Tried quite quickly, but it seems really powerful. You can make almost infinite adjustments and slight variations on a template.
Here, for example, are some variations on an olive tree template. Just SU's hidden line style.

Re: Tree maker plugin
Excellent, Massimo!
Thanks for the "heads up".
Those leaves look about 30% too big.

Re: Tree maker plugin
Well, that was quick and I've just kept the default size.
Played a bit with trunk and leaves. Better?
The great thing is that is a parametric tool and you can easily modify everything. Also you have a ton of settings for each element of the tree.

Re: Tree maker plugin
Good to know!
We'll have to give it a try. How well do they render with Twilight?

Re: Tree maker plugin
let me know if you can work out how to make a Palm tree.....i'm having no luck with that
Re: Tree maker plugin
Didn't really tried with a palm Gareth. Seems difficult anyway.

The great thing, just discovered, is that you can make your own leaf model: just save it in the folder that comes with the plugin and then you'll find it in the drop down menu. So we can make X-frog like trees making a simple rectangular shape for the leaves and then applying a PNG leaf texture to them. Maybe I'll try something later.some of them render ok....depends on the leaf colour
Re: Tree maker plugin
Ok, first very quick try with a X-frog like tree:
-not worked at all on the tree's shape, branches, sub-branches etc.;
-just 1 leaf PNG texture used;
-materials quickly made with a couple of templates: in particular leaves have no translucency, only some reflectance;
-only 5 passes with easy 09.
Anyway the result seems not bad already.

Re: Tree maker plugin
I've been using TreeD for the past year or so.....it is similar in the way you would go about building the tree structure but is a little messy getting it to work in SketchUp and then render
http://www.frecle.net/?show=treed.about
I wonder if the leaf textures can be utilised with the Tree Maker plugin ?

Re: Tree maker plugin
Well never tried tree[d], but you can use any PNG with transparency as leaves.
Here is how the tree looks in SU with my custom leaves.
