2015 Ford F150

Post by rangerrick » Thu Oct 02, 2014 7:50 pm

I've always owned a Ford F150 since I first started to drive. In the anticipation of the upcoming release of the totally
newly redesigned 2015 F150, scheduled for sales in a few months, I rendered this version in the new color "Bronze Fire".
The truck is a 3D Warehouse model by captainkirk. Considerable material, lighting & model tweaks by me. The only
post pro is the added lens flare, otherwise right out of Twilight. Background is a HDRI. Only 60 minutes to render!

Seriously, Wow!

Your blending of the ground plane with background is perfect! Did you do anything special to accomplish that?

Thanks Chris, you and the team have done good with Twilight V2.0
The ground plane was trial and error, matching its size and positioning into the HDRI along with
adjusting the texture size and color to suit the image. In other software I use there is what is refered
to as a "Shadow Catcher", essentially this ground plane renders invisible but is able to display the shadows
as they would fall giving a completely realist impression the model is sitting in the background. Does Twilight
do anything like this that I'm unaware of? I know Alvydas had a work around with V1.0 and he posted a short tutorial
here in the forums. I'll have to search it out.

Unfortunately we don't have a shadow catcher mechanism in our render engine right now.

Wow, this is seriously good. Good work RR. :)
The above is probably a stupid question. Thank-you for your patience.

I had another go with this model and scene with a few refinements. A change to the field of view, added an interior and made a wheel change, and a color change to the new
colors; Guard(top) and Cariboo (lower accent). The changes are inline with my personal tastes should I be fortunate enough to own one of these.
