Hi,
I urgently require some assistance. I am producing visuals for an interior retail unit using TWV2. My Scene however will not render and comes up with error message "bad allocation"
Whats strange is it will render in TWV1. I understand it may be a large texture causing the issue, if so how do I locate any? I have tried a purge all plugin to no avail.
My computer is of a decent spec, this shouldn't be an issue. Please can i have some advice and how to get this issue resolved.
Many thanks

Re: Scene Help
I assume you are using SketchUp 2015? There is a memory problem in the x64 bit version of the Kerkythea Render engine that has been causing crashes. We are working with the Kerkythea developers to identify the problem and fix it. At last report, they have found the problem and are fixing it. We hope to have a new render engine very soon.
Obviously we aren't happy about it either. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to make the fix available as soon as possible.

Re: Scene Help
In the meantime you can install and render with SU2015 32bit and TwilightV2 32bit, it should work, as Twilight is notoriously good with large files.

Re: Scene Help
You are experiencing this problem with SketchUp 8 and 32 bit TWR?
The problem, then, is probably simply that you are running out of RAM. As SU 8 is a 32 bit app it is limited to less than 4 GB of memory. The best and fastest thing you can do is reduce the size of your textures. A lot of modelers don't consider the size of image textures when modeling and you can end up with hugely oversized textures. Usually textures can be reduced below 1000px, often even to 500 or smaller.
As for how to locate the problem, currently you will have to go through your materials and identify the ones that use textures. Then look at the texture size using SketchUp's material editor.
The Pro version of Twilight Render V2 has a Diagnostic Report feature that will list your materials and any images they use. Currently, it does not correctly list images that are embedded in SketchUp. The next release, however, will include this feature, allowing you to quickly identify all of your texture images and their sizes.

Re: Scene Help
First culprit of large textures is usually a spherical sky image. This image should be less than 8000x4000. Higher resolutions than this can fill RAM quickly.
Next, sometimes components inserted from 3DWarehouse have contained extremely high resolutions of images that only needed to be very low resolultion, such as a framed photo sitting on a night stand. The photo can sometimes be unusually and unnecessarily high resolution. We have seen a fruit basket inserted from 3DWarehouse where the banana texture was over 8000px in size. When the texture was resized to 800px wide, the scene rendered perfectly.

Re: Scene Help
Not really, as at the moment our 64bit version is having memory leak issues... we are working on a fix.
