Hi there,
I am using the Twilight v2 template "Floor -> Tile" to render some granite wall with 60x120cm tiles.
It works great. Material is from sketchup. And I used the Material Editor of Twilight to apply the template Floor->Tile to it. Planks lengths and width, stagger of 2/3 and bevelling of tiles.
However, I would like to define the origin point of the first full tile to be, in my case, bottom left of the facing wall. Image attached. Is there a way to do so? From within sketchup or purely with Twilight render maybe. I was hoping maybe the same way we can reposition and resize textures in Sketchup...
thanks,
Lance
Template Floor Tile : set up the origin of pattern
Re: Template Floor Tile : set up the origin of pattern
Set the origin by placing the SketchUP Axis.
Re: Template Floor Tile : set up the origin of pattern
Thanks.
I tried by adjusting the drawing axis at the origin point:
It did not change: Did I do something wrong or maybe you meant something else by "placing the SketchUP Axis"?
thanks,

I'm sorry. I wasn't clear.
If the geometry is not inside of a component, then you must move the geometry relative to the default SU global axis.
If you put the geometry inside of a component, then you can change the axis of the component to move the tiles.

Re: Template Floor Tile : set up the origin of pattern
I really apologize, Fletch. You are certainly very clear and I am probably not very skilled yet, although I am trying.
I am not sure how to put (or not put) geometry inside of a component. I tried to search on the web, but it did not take me through.
From sektechup : I simply created a 3x3 meter surface with a tickness of 1cm. I made it a group and I painted it through sketchup in yellow or so (Color D03).
From Twilight Render, I selected the surface through the Material editor and applied the template Floor--≥Tile to it. (length 100, width 50, stagger 33, beveled)
What i find weird on the rendering, is that none of the corners of the rendered surface (which i labeled A, B, C and D) do seem to have a "clean" start, I mean a complete tile.
So, again sorry to be at loss, but where and how should I play with geometry to make this start at one corner, for instance A?

Re: Template Floor Tile : set up the origin of pattern
To change where the tiles begin you will have to move the geometry (faces) up or down, left or right in relation to the SketchUp default scene axis. The origin of the tiles is based on math and calculated based upon the position of the SketchUp axis. X is Red Y is Green Z is blue
Working with Components:
In SketchUp you can select any items and right-click and then choose "Make Component"
After this, you can right-click on the component and choose "change axis" to modify the axis.
Or, if you double-click on the component, and you are now "inside" of the component and you can edit the items inside, you can right-click on any empty space and choose "change axis".

Re: Template Floor Tile : set up the origin of pattern
It appears that the tile (50cm x 100cm) is starting at 25cm up from the corner, so I would start by trying to move the geometry 25cm "down".lanceloz wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 12:07 pm

Thank you! You made it very clear.
