Chris wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 4:22 pm Phil, did you check that Skatter is enabled in the Render Editor? Under Settings -> Advanced Settings there should be a checkbox for Skatter.
I can not find this. Can you be more specific where to find this setting?

Please be sure you carefully follow these steps:
Subject: Twilight V2 and Skatter
Chris wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2020 2:41 pm I just tried 2020 and it is working there too. My first run through, it didn't render but that was because I missed a step. Here are the steps I followed:
  • Create a "floor" component made from a rectangle
  • Open the Skatter editor
  • Open the Skatter Library
  • Choose one of the grass models from the Skatter library and select "Full Geometry" and "Render Only"
  • In the Skatter editor, click the Hosts - Add button and click on the floor component previously created. Note that the preview will show the grass fully populated on the floor.
  • If not already checked, click and check Render Only in the Skatter editor.
  • Click (re)Generate! I missed this step the first time because the preview populated right away in the last step. But you still MUST click it.
  • Render (probably with Interior/Interior+)

Those are the steps I have been following. However, as I mentioned in the other thread I started, I have found that one of the real problems I have encountered is with the explorer renderer. It caused TR to lock up several times and I had to turn off my computer. When rendering the same scene and settings with the regular renderer it ram OK.

too many polys for Exploration Render algorithm to handle. Maybe could work if you change the render settings/method used by the exploration render to be Easy 11.

I like the strange low-poly but somehow high poly look of that last image.

Thanks Fletch.

I am trying to decide whether to purchase Skatter. I like the way you can develop things in a “hidden” mode which allows you to still navigate in SU. I have not/never worked with terrains before so this was just part of the learning process. Since I am just a “hobbyist” I am not sure how much I would use it. Their forum does not seem to have much activity.

Any feedback/recommendations are/would be greatly appreciated. :whoot:

Here is my latest venture:

I used the image mask feature of the Skatter plugin to arrange some bushes in the shape of the SketchUp logo. I also use the infinite plane feature of TR to create the base for the image. Used the 08 Exterior Daytime and Aces settings to generate the image. My next step is to learn the best way to combine this capability with the model in my previous post so that they are blended to gether.

I finally came up with a way to include the SU logo in my AIS model.
