G'day folks.

I have seen a fantastic render over on the Sketchucation. https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewto ... 81&t=74495

This is something I find almost magical and deeply inspirational.

The model can be found here.

No idea if I will ever get there but trying to do so gets me through the day. This and others found here, come from a

wonderful community as we have here. I hope you all have the greatest year yet and the sun shines for all of you and

yours.

The image is not a proper render, I am testing some new texture finishes.

This was a twinmotionrender with path tracer.

Twilightrender can produce the same result, maybe even better.

I am comparing these two engines and using them both. Twinmotion ist faster but Twilghtquality especially indoorrenders are better

I am quite aware of the render method/engine, ta. Every single piece of software has particular good and bad points. Some like sketchup make imports look poor until cleaned up. You pay your money and take you chances to be honest.

I am curious about, well, anything tbh. Never did over over the question 'WHY'? :hat:

OK, I have got to the test stage where the first introduction of hdri and shadow catcher appear. Not entirely happy, which will surprise nobody but promising I think.

Ta mate, the shadow catcher is way too big though and makes the wall look like part of the floor. Just needs to be big enough for a fair shadow and no more.

Hmmmm. :wall: time right now as I am getting some spurious results which leave me scratching my head. I replaced the 2k hdri with an 8k version. This is the first time I have seen this ans I am clueless as to the cause but look for yourself, another Gremlin.

If you look at the top hale of the hdri image it is clearly, sharp. That on the bottom half is clearly blurry and out of scale synch. Considering the hdri used is an 8k variety, it is a mite odd.

I am experimenting with various circular hdri projectors. Slow going.

The orientation of both parts is out of synch too which is odd as they are on the same piece of geometry.

OK, well don't I feel stoopid? I made a noob mistake of using two different definitions o the same hdri. 2k forr the shadow catcher and 8k for the hdri.

Well, I can always say I missed my wheetabix today.

Problem fixed but still for some reason there is a schism in the walls.

Never mind I'll have a go tomorrow..........
