Render + Settibgs

Post by ntxdave » Tue Feb 08, 2022 3:49 pm

Really dumb question but, in the Render Settings, what does the + sign mean?

I thought I had read about it before but I could not find it. Is there some place that gives a good explanation of the difference in the settings?

The + :

Difference between Low and Low+
Higher quality AA from spatial edges to all edges.
Higher quality Brightness Threshold (renders slower but is more accurate, maybe more forgiving with materials that are too bright)
Double the quality for Diffuse Samples
Increased quality Specular Samples
Enabled Dispersion sampling

Difference between Medium and Medium+
Higher quality AA from .3 to .1
Higher quality Brightness Threshold from .005 to .002
Enabled Dispersion sampling
Increased quality of refraction AA from "Higher" to "Ultra Fine"

Difference between High and High+
Enables Trace Translucencies
Increased quality of refraction AA from "Fine" to "Ultra Fine"

Thanks Fletch :hat:

Just curious, is this documented anywhere?

These settings were changed/updated in the recent past, so the old docs about it are out-dated.

You are the first to inquire. :hat:

Personally, if the computer has a good CPU/GPU render with Fastforward denoise and Easy 09, it will be higher quality and faster.

Good to know if/when I get my laptops p running again. Good reason for the plugin. 😀
