Reading room.

A small reading and or music room. Not populated properly yet, still things to go in and the ceiling may well be simplified quite a lot.

Just looking at light and bump settings for now, no attempt at a proper render. The fieplace may well come a bit down the wall too so setting of a scene so far.

There also, appear to be a lot of cloth eating moths around, no idea where they came from but that damage can be fixed too.

Thoughts?

Moved on a bit not sure about the multi level ceiling but worth a try.

OK, moving on with the muse of the moment.

I am slowly giving up on the ceiling experiment, too small a room and too low a ceiling for it, probably.

A great find imho, is the stone wall texture I acquired from CG Mood, a great site for all your model and render needs and nearly as good as this place. I have set a simple task on the Sketchucation forum too, tell me the obvious flaw in execution of the stone wall texture if you can find it.

I nearly fell off my chair tbh.

Thanks mate. More to try. Are there any opinions on the ceiling moulding? I reckon it is too low rent and has to go myself,

I sometimes talk about those who like their renders to be extremely bright or over exposed. I am not wanting to criticise. What I would like is a bit of debate if possible.

I am the first to say there is a lack of consistency to my renders that I am trying to improve on. Yep, moon and stars.....

Looking better, :^:

a little blotchy lighting on the baseboard, probably needs increased Final Gather settings. (assuming your white is no brighter than 90% already, I put mine much lower than 90.)

I'm confused what's happening on the ceiling with the big blobs. :?

Not sure what you are saying about the stone wall, but there's a clear repeating pattern which catches the eye.

Ta mate.

The baseboard or, skirting board, is bothering me too. None of those suggestions are relevent as they have been checked, light bounce? Shadow from lights?

The 'blobs' on the ceiling is a ceiling moulding which has already been simplified again, I just wanted something a little ornate but different.

The stone wall has a slight repeat but not the worst by any stretch. What I am talking about is the reflection on the glass table top. The bump very noticeably reverses and when you look directly, it is very stand out. Waiting for the next render to finish which will be soon.

OK, sooner than I thought. I reduced the hdri to 80% to darken the background image and make it more realistic. This and the reduction of artificial lights by two means it is slightly darker.

The downlights are too close to the wall IMHO, try to keep them 2' (60cm) away.

Bump in the glass reflection doesn't seem reversed to me. :? Maybe it's some sort of optical illusion?

Brightness of the image depends upon about 20-40% post processing of the image. Try using Filmic post process method and bumping up only the strength of the "Highlight" setting. Try increments of doubling, so from 1 to 2 to 4 to 8, and so on in order to test quickly the results of the settings and how they effect the image.

Here's a great example of the power of Filmic post processing:
Subject: ACES vs Filmic : When do I use Filmic versus ACES when Tonemapping?

Try highlighting the artwork, move it down the wall a bit, maybe more attractive lighting.

If you haven't seen it, I have an in-depth tutorial about doing interiors (a kitchen) that I think would apply well to the space you are working on. A lot of information there is for beginners, but a lot of the information may be helpful for lighting, etc.

Thanks mate, I'll have a gander at that later. :^:
