Single monitor running.

Post by Mike1158 » Tue Nov 08, 2022 12:57 am

Still running the old pc and it is hilarious with a monitor and a tv (HD).

Busy rebuilding model and texture library but thought I would play with what I have to see where I am.

Just a Giraffe. The sofa is NOT floating but something happened to the legs, I will find them on Mars probably.

Stay well folks.

I admit that even the old OM010 can do better. When I find it.

Possibly get an autograph on the legs when Matt Damon finishes with them.

Well, still not sure about the distressed plaster but the new sofa works better. When I get round to it the long wall will have a picture (Hiding a large screen).

The new mats make most of the light in the scene which just proves the adage that poor textures give a poor result and I have a LOT of textures to dump.

Poor models can be textured to reasonable effect over distance but close up they also spoil the render, too many short cut aquisition models are a waste of time downloading and storing.

I have a lot still to do with my system if it is going to act as a backup when the new machine arrives. No news on monitors yet.

:^: coming along nicely. Actually the couch in the first image looks good to me.
The couch in the new image also looks ok. :^:

The ceiling design and lighting design of a space are critical to a pleasant living space especially in "efficiency" spaces. Hope you can do a lot of research on how to get the most out of the space. ;)

window sill, window/door frames, other details help to flesh out a space.

Ta mate, the window and door frames are flush items, bolt in units. The window ledges and sills are a delete option. Folk put stuff on them which gets in the way of blind and window operation.

As far as research into efficient use of space goes, I have different views on what is supposedly efficient.

There is a large section of room to the left of the island unit, between that and the POV is a stair set and well. Behind the fridge freeze is a larder/storage area. Something I use where possible is the simple transition from one part of a room to the next. A lot of pro designs have choke points between each element ahich may be described as efficient but I do not like. I know I am not a pro and do not pretend to be, just a disabled ex soldier who uses this system for recreation. I don't have to sell these to anybody.

Some of me designs if you can call them that, work better than others while some are pure farce. The current render of that room is lighter with different wall texture.

Nice progress. I think experimenting with different wall and ceiling textures might be worthwhile? :gj:

I was referring to the ceiling and lighting design only in that statement, my apologies if it was unclear.
