Shoji screen for Japanese rooms / Pantalla shoji Japonesa

In this example, the paper is a single face. It has no thickness. Make sure to apply the material to the front face and not the back face.
In SketchUp, apply the material Cladding_Stucco_White within the Brick and Cladding folder.
Now choose the Subsurface Scattering > Wax template in Twilight and change it like this:
Your SketchUp view should now be showing a transparent paper. I've added a bamboo plant from Solo's garden pack on the outside so it projects a shadow on the Shoji screen. For the wood I used the Plastic > Shiny template; for the cups, Ceramic > Porcelain, and for the floor materials, Generic > Soft with some bump.
Rendered in preset 09 for 100 passes (took 4 hours+ on my Dual Core). I raised the exposure a tiny bit to 1.1.
The blurry background was achieved by right clicking on the teapot and choosing Twilight > Set camera target, then moving the camera to the desired position and adding a scene tab to render. Before rendering, in the camera tab in the render window I chose Camera F-number: 2.
Room and table come from the 3D warehouse.
Bamboo plant can be found in Solo's library of vegetation for SketchUp.
Before anyone points this out, the screens are called shoji, but the paper traditionally used in them is called washi. Nowadays there are shoji screens using other materials, including plastic.
If you have any tips to improve any material on the scene, feel free to post them.

As I said, shoji screens nowadays can use plastic instead of washi paper. Here's an attempt with the Realistic Glass > Plexiglass template, 350 passes in Preset Easy 09, exposure 1.5. I also changed the tatami texture and raised the bump in some materials:

Is the sun "projecting a shadow of the bamboo onto" the material as in Miguel's example?

Yup, that's the ticket, I oriented the sun so the bamboo would project a shadow on the paper, and put the bamboo pretty close to the paper, actually.
