Welome.
Nice house. Maybe you can add a nice sky background?

Hi WardNL and vizfellas,
Thank you for your comments.
To have or not to have a background...?
No background is a deliberate choice in this instance. For me its all about the building and nothing else.
Different land owners will build their own townhouses on either side of this one, and it is a question of where to stop with realism.
Most of my work will concentrate solely on the building as the focus and as a stand alone entity in terms of presentation.
I probably should have let these cook for a little longer though.....there is a little noise remaining that might have cleaned up had I have left them for another 30 to 60 minutes.....but time is the essence...!!

I fully accept this, but then I suggest that you set the Sun/Sky to a background color instead...Gareth wrote:To have or not to have a background...?

Totally agree with Frederik.. your model gets lost in the picture with the background almost the same colour as the house. ..Frederik wrote:I suggest that you set the Sun/Sky to a background color instead...

I would even try a completely different colour on the background.. something like a dark red or something (just a guess, maybe too radical ).. But surely that would be a big contrast and make the house deliberately stand out.
Really nice model, by the way!!!..
Cheers,
Sandy

Hi Frederick and Smiley,
Thank you also for your comments and suggestions.
Smiley, red does look quite awesome...! The problem I have is this (and this is only a 'me' issue), I don't even want the sky/background colour to distract from the building.....I might have to let go of that obsession...!!
I'll reset the background colour and repost later.
Thanks again,
Gareth

I also love to do renders like that, and grey seems to be an elegant choice.

Hi Miguel,
Elegant is a nice word.....i agree....and I think the reason for this is that many hard edges can be 'washed and blended' in to the background......i find that I can't achieve that with a coloured background.
In the meantime, I'll play around with with different brightness levels until I get it right.....i think it's close, but it's not quite right yet

Mhhh... okay.. good point. And Ecuadorian's right about the "elegance" of gray, but it still gives me the sensation of being suspended in the air.. with no "support".Gareth wrote: I don't even want the sky/background colour to distract from the building
And forgot to mention the glass on the railing that looks too thin..
But I think it has great potential!!
