+ GPU: https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/elastic-graphics/
My understanding is that the best systems for rendering are the "Compute Optimized" systems, specially c5.large to c5.18xlarge. The GPU addon is required to get SketchUp to load so I just use the cheapest option there.
c5.18xlarge with Windows is $6.372/hour with per second billing and I think one minute minimum (correction: see next post; billing not per second). The GPU adds $0.05/hour. Expensive but not bad for short bursts when you need something rendered quickly . (Just remember to turn the system off when you're done and set up billing alerts in case you forget!)
Setting up an instance is definitely on the technical side. The Amazon Web Services interface is very feature filled and technical. I think a lot of users would be able to handle it with a tutorial, though.
I'd be happy to help with more testing on various c5 EC2 systems . It's a lot of fun!
