Thinkin' the water reflection is pretty neat...

Post by tomsdesk » Fri Sep 18, 2009 4:24 pm

Twilight is gonna really help push me in a better direction with my NPR render studies, thank you very much! Posting this first and foremost because I'm really impressed with how my little trees and bushes are handled by this program...whadaya'll think? Second, I know it's time to hit the books and tuts about water and window glass, but hoping for a point in the right direction:

...no matter what material I tried I couldn't get the pool tile to break thru the surface reflections (I even made the material a 400w light emitter to no avail...just got really slow to render)?

...the water material didn't show up with any ripples?

...this image's water is thin warped glass and looks cool (thick warped looks better but slowed the raytrace time to slower than frozen snot...2+hrs to get to 3% on a low+ render setting) but I really liked the reflection color adjustment of the water and other template glass selections and couldn't find one with a warp?

Any other C&C would of course be welcomed, thanks.

Wow!! It's really nice and smooth too, your vegetation seems to be happy with TW.
Tell us how you can do a mood like that...

Can't wait to see more, ;)

Fred.

turn off "cast shadow" for the water material.
Have you followed the Realistic Water - Fast - in Twilight Render and downloaded the scene?

Thanks Miguel...I had all set that way once: except for the SU material being set so light and thin.

Fletch...thanks, I will now go thru the tuts list: which seems to be expanding?

Fred...mood? I set the sunlight color to a light blue and slid the slider to 100% cloudy for some realy soft bluish shadows...is that the mood you see? Other than that everything is out of the box including one of Fletch's s-skys. (Could it be those fantastic trees? :`)

Cool image! 8-)
But something curious : there are only shadows on the top of the pergola ;)

Tom, by the way, did you see the 2 swimming pools available for download in the "Members Only" resources section? I imagine they will come in quite handy for you, specifically.
