Hall Of Justice

Post by Phil Meadows » Tue Sep 29, 2009 2:56 pm

I wonder how many of you are like me in this regard: I can't seem to declare a render "good enough" to post. There's always some little thing wrong with what looks like it'll be a "final render". Case in point, I've been working on a render of the Hall of Justice (from the Superfriends cartoon) for a few nights now. Last night I thought I had it! It was a nice image....except for the texture problem that cropped up on one of the background buildings.

Well here it is anyway.

Looks great to me! (though the trees don't live up to the rest of the image)

The textures on the buildings are not lined up correctly.

yes the trees are a weak point. I'm looking for suitable replacements, if anyone can recommend anything. I don't think Solo or FormFonts have these tall thin conifers in their libraries, do they? I'll look again.

The textures on the buildings seem to be sliding around. they're all from the Warehouse, I wonder if that's a known problem.

I also need to tone down the white marble of the building. Or adjust the sun angle so you can see the reliefs on the piers. Lots of work to do.

Have you upgraded to 1.0.19? Some problems with projected textures were solved with this version.

I have upgraded, yes. I'll try repositioning the offending textures, or maybe I'll just model my own buildings using the cartoon as reference. I'm a recovering over-modeler though, so that may not be the best route.

if they are still shifting, subdivide the face a few times or just right-click the offending texture and choose "make unique"
